The Juice Diaries - Midwest Juicery
Juice cleanses can be hard and quite frankly take an aggressive amount of self-control but I wanted to challenge myself and put a spot light on Midwest Juicery. I have used their products in the past and remembered loving how I felt! They are vegan, gluten-free, cold pressed, raw juices that increase your energy, mental and physical health. Real fruit, real veggies and real results that make your body feel AMAZING! Midwest Juicery is working to help incorporate more veggies into our eating habits to encourage life long wellness one juice at a time. So if you want to know how I kept up with my juice cleanse and only had water, black coffee and juice, keep reading!
3 Day Juice Cleanse - 18 Bottles - 6 Flavors - $122.99 - Check it out here.
Day 1:
10:00 AM - Currently I have already had one juice (Green with Envy) and I am impatiently ready for the next. I'm not starving but I'm definitely ready for the next one. It also doesn't help doing this at work, sitting around people eating. As I watch my co-worker eat her breakfast I find this juice cleanse getting a little harder, but nothing that a little self-control and prayer can't solve.
Side Note: If you need to eat, do it, don't pass out trying to crush a juice cleanse! Just remember to choose clean/raw options. On a juice cleanse like this, I'd suggest mostly sticking to vegetables and eating them in their most raw form. Remember this is a cleanse and reset, we're looking to feed our bodies in the best way we can.
My Routine (keeping in mind that I do not usually eat before 9AM or after 6PM)
7 AM - WATER, WATER, WATER
8:30ish AM - Black Coffee (No added Sugars/Creams)
9 AM - Juice #1 (GREEN with ENVY - Apple, Romaine, Cucumber, Celery, Kale, Lemon, Parsley)
10 AM - WATER
11 AM - Juice #2 (SIPPIN' on GINGER - Apple, Lemon, Ginger, Apple Cider Vinegar, Turmeric, Cayenne Pepper, Black Pepper)
12 PM - WATER
1 PM - Juice #3 (BEETS - Beet, Carrot, Cucumber, Lemon Ginger)
2 PM - WATER
3 PM - Juice #4 - (4 CARROT GOLD - Carrot, Apple, Lemon, Ginger)
Headed to the Gym - Ran/Walked for 30 minutes, felt totally energized and didn't feel sick at all, considering I've only been consuming juice lol
4 PM - WATER
5 PM - Juice #5 (LAVA LEMON - Lemon, Maple Syrup, Cayenne Pepper)
6 PM - Juice #6 (ALL GREENS EVERYTHING - Cucumber, Celery, Romaine, Kale, Lemon, Parsley, Swiss Chard, Ginger) WATER for the remainder of the evening
BEWARE!!!! I was peeing all day!!! Literally spent a majority of my day in the bathroom LOL
End of Day Thoughts: I really wanted to do this juice cleanse, one to shed some light on Midwest Juicery, and two, to share healthy ways to reset your body. For most people the New Year can feel like a burden and add unnecessary pressure to "getting in shape" and being healthier, and while those are both good things, I think many of us get lost in the pressure to look and feel a certain way. Don't feel the need to do a juice cleanse or diet super hard because society tells you to, do a juice cleanse to reset your body and feel good. Eat healthy a majority of the time because it matters. As a foodie, I eat often and I try to balance it with working towards eating better throughout the week but I love experiencing the freedom to indulge in delicious bites over the weekend, because that is what works for me. Find what works for you! We truly are all different and are constantly learning about ourselves and our bodies. There is no rush to get it all right, go to the gym everyday and only eat leafy greens. Just find balance and while you're doing so, support local businesses. Midwest Juicery really is a great option for those looking to support a local business (stationed in Toledo, OH) and reset at the same time. Their juices although healthy are pretty tasty (although the beets for me was hard LOL) and you can feel that they're GOOD for YOU!
Day 2:
Fortunately, on Wednesdays I work virtually, which means an hour more of sleep and I can use the bathroom as much as I want without feeling self conscious. Throughout the day I basically followed the same schedule, although around 4ish maybe 5ish I had a small headache, which I wasn't sure if it was from a lack of solid food or not consuming my regular amount of coffee but it didn't last long and I made it through another day of being able to not eat any solid food and really stick to the juices for nutrients!
I did however switch up my routine by drinking Sippin' on Ginger out of a champagne glass. For me a lot of eating and drinking is mental and honestly, it made a difference in how I enjoyed the juice and ended my night feeling sophisticated and healthy LOL.
DAY 3:
At this point I'm in the swing of things guys! Woke up, snagged some water, completed a seven minute HIIT Workout, drank my black coffee and started my juice routine. Today I think is the easiest day thus far. I know what I'm heading into and there is hope that I am eating solid food tomorrow. Frankly ready to crush it and wake up feeling good! Even more details on Instagram!
11:30 AM - TMI ALERT: This was the first time I pooped (I know that's not the most appetizing thought) but while I have you here, I'd like to note that my pee was clear for the last three days, which really tells me how natural these juices are, no additives or dyes, it is straight produce! YAY!
Closing Thoughts: I would absolutely do this again, my body feels GREAT! I feel energized, my stomach is not bloated, I feel awake and attentive, it was totally worth the sacrifice. Part of me wishes I could continue this but I know it's not practical for everyday life. However, I am looking to incorporate more juices into my weekly routine! What I feel like sustained me most, really was God! Ironically enough my church is reading through the book of John for 21 days and in John, Jesus is constantly talking about His body and how He will rebuild the temple and He is the bread of life. I needed that. Between sticking to my daily routine, keeping up with my Bible reading and just plain endurance these three days went by like a breeze! If I had to do one more day I absolutely could, but hey breakfast tomorrow won't be in vain LOL. If you have any questions for me, feel free to reach out, or slide in that Instagram DM, let's find wellness together!
