Thanksgiving Breakfast Idea
Thanksgiving has always been small for me, while I had my entire extended family on both my mom and dad's side, we usually reserved the morning just for the five of us, and tended to still keep Thanksgiving dinner small. My parents always tried to be intentional, discuss what we’re thankful for and reset before the even crazier part of the upcoming holiday season.
In our house, my dad was the chef. He would cook all day making every single dish pretty much by himself and while we could jump in lol, it always tasted better coming from his hands. As you can imagine he was super busy and the rest of us were still hungry throughout the day. I think that’s something that a lot of people don’t think about. Thanksgiving breakfast. Like what is holding us over until dinner?! Most of the time it was spoonful's of whatever dish was close enough to being done, but in recent years I found a super simple Thanksgiving breakfast idea that has a hint of the flavors you’ll experience throughout the day. From tart cranberries and Pioneer's Country Gravy Mix.
that gives us those savory, comfort food feels, this sammy will have you ready for all the flavors Thanksgiving day brings.
This sandwich is so easy to make and can be constantly interchanged or substituted with other options. A lot of people will make sandwiches with Thanksgiving leftovers but why not get ahead of the game and get those taste buds ready for the day! The twang of the cranberry sauce with the pepper from Pioneer's Country Gravy Mix and surprise apple slice - so good!
INGRIEDIENTS NEEDED FOR AN EASY THANKSGIVING BREAKFAST SANDWICH & BREAKFAST BOARD:
1 Pack of English Muffins (You can also do biscuits, bagels or croissants)
1 Packet of Pioneer's Country Gravy Mix (Find out where to buy yours here.) - Can be Country Mix with Sausage
1 can (14 oz) of Jellied Cranberry Sauce
1 Pack of Plant-Based Sausage or Regular
1 Apple
Additional assorted fruit for your tray
Optional items: Cheese (Brie is great for this sammy or anything smoky but whatever cheese you like, or eggs to get even more of the breakfast feels!)
CAN I USE SAUSAGE INSTEAD OF PLANT BASED SAUSAGE?
Absolutely! If you have been flowing me long enough, I try to switch it up and with all the meat that I usually devour on Thanksgiving, this is a nice way for me to have a substitute in the morning, but please feel free to switch out for what you prefer! We like options people! Even having both options is great idea for guest with potential dietary restrictions.
Thanksgiving Breakfast Sandwich Board
PREP TIME: 10 Minutes COOK TIME: 10 Minutes TOTAL: 20 Minutes SERVES: 6
INSTRUCTIONS 1. Begin to cook your sausage - I like to do mine stove top on medium heat
2. Toast your English Muffins - either in the oven or in a toaster
3. Prepare your gravy mix as instructed on the package - add additional seasoning as needed
4. Slice an Apple - Either Thick or Thin (depends on how much crunch and flavor you're looking for)
5. Crack open a can of cranberry sauce (jellied) and mix until a jelly like texture (should be spreadable)
6. Begin creating your board - I like to embellish my breakfast board with other fruits, just for options and once complete, I add a good portion of gravy and cranberry sauce to pinch bowls and place on the board
7. Serve it up! Place out for guest and have them build their Thanksgiving Breakfast Sandwich how they want!
8. I recommend gravy on one side of a English Muffin, cranberry sauce on the other, an apple slice and sausage in the middle
I can not tell you how easy this is to throw together and if you make this with biscuits as the bun, it will definitely feel like a twist on biscuits and gravy. This is a great recipe for a quick Thanksgiving breakfast meal but also after when you are trying to figure out how to disperse those leftovers!
Pioneer products are available at a grocer near you! I like to buy mine at my local Kroger, one of my favorite places, but you can find the best location for you, using their store locator here. Grab your mix and spend time less time in the kitchen trying to figure out what to eat Thanksgiving morning and more time making memories with fully bellies and grateful hearts! Celebrate more of the holidays with Pioneer here.
Happy Thanksgiving Yall!
